DAY 2/JUNE 27
DESIGN IN ACTION
Main programme: Sphere hall
12:00-13:00 Session Homo Creatives
Effective design begins with an effective interaction between a customer and a creative engineering team. Participants of the discussion will share their tested interaction patterns in the production chain “from an idea to point of sales” as well as their successful and unsuccessful case studies on cooperation.
Key discussion points*:

13:15-14:15 Discussion Drone Attack
A new version of a selfie-drone, Amazon quadcopter, supporting voice commands recognition, Walmart robotic bees - regular events from the “life of drones” are included in the daily news agenda. Design plays a crucial role in the emergence of new functions, tasks and adaptation mechanisms. After all, it is designer’s logic that integrates drones into our daily world thus making unmanned and human systems compatible.
Key issues:
Moderator*:
14:45-15:45 Round table: Design as a Cure for Pain
How many lives can be saved or prolonged with the help of medical design? A designer does not solve a one dimensional problem of creating a “shell” for a prosthesis, scalpel or ultrasound machine. He takes an active part in saving or improving the patient’s quality of life.
16:00-17:00 Design dialogue Zero gravity
For designers the universe presents endless engineering and creative opportunities that can force human thought out of its boundaries. However, the task of designing a comfortable cosmonaut-friendly spaceship did not appear straightaway. How this problem is solved nowadays; how spaceships, equipment and spacesuits look inside and out; what space is through the eyes of a cosmonaut are the theme of design dialogue. Key issues:
Concurrent programme: Lecture Hall
12:00-13:00 Customer school. Life of Outstanding Ideas
Experts will present their innovations, talk about difficulties they faced in their professional lives, share production practices, and speak about success and its price.
13:15-14:15 Customer school. To Be Realistic or To Want the Impossible?
Focus on - design innovations that expanded the scope of science and production and made human life more comfortable and interesting.
• Man&Technologies lab;• Tektonika;• Industrial design bureau Masshtab
14:45-15:45 Customer school. What do Designers Talk about?
Discussion topic: value and price in industry and design. How does the dialogue between developers + designers and customers, markets + end users take place: from assignment formulation to pricing.
16:00-17:00 Customer school. Obstacle Race
The key topic of conversation is introducing innovations and solutions into manufacturing. What does an engineer or designer encounter when transitioning from a prototype to mass production? Who and / or what gets in their way? How can one overcome resistance and inertia?
DAY 3/JUNE 28
DESIGN CREATES
11:00-12:30 Plenary session: The Power of Design in Industry 4.0
Industrial design does not only reprogram the world in which we live, create new ideas, forms and interaction patterns. With development of digital technologies, industrial design is tasked with an overarching issue of improving the quality of our material world to virtual reality levels and building communication channels between these two realities. Thus, designocracy becomes a possible model for organizing future societies, while the designer himself acts as a conduit between the “digital” and everyday world.
12:45-13:30 Lecture "New materials and opportunities od 3D printing"
13:45-14:45 Discussion: Is the Route Ready?
The future of the transport industry is determined by automobile designers. They are the ones engaged in creating new systems for human-machine interaction. And the task goes far beyond creating vehicle’s exterior and interior. Today we are talking about interface design for “driver-car” systems. What shape will this symbiosis take? - Nowadays the answer to this question is sought after not by science fiction writers but by industrial designers.
Issues for discussion:
15:15-16:00 Lecture "Risks and failure in design innovation"
Speaker:
16:15-17:15 Discussion: Does the Future Not Have a Human Face?
WALL-E, C3PO, Werther, Terminator T-800, Sonny NS5, David-8 ... By and large, it was the science fiction film makers who defined the design direction for developing humanoid and animal robots, whose main task is communicating with people. As far as developments in artificial intelligence are concerned, the design task increases in complexity from creating an anthropomorphic shell to designing AI itself. Key issues for discussion*:
18:00-21:00 Defence of hackathon design projects
12:30-13:30 Lecture "The role of industrial design in business and life"
13:45-14:45 Case-session Innovation, Ergonomics and Design in Agriculture
15:15-16:00 Universal Design
16:30-17:30 Innovation, Ergonomics and Design in Agriculture
