The resources-rich republic of Sakha (Yakutia) boasts 98% of Russia's diamond-mining industry, as well as holding first place in terms of coal production and accounting for 24% of the country's gold mining. It is also home to 600,000 tons of uranium ore. Industries here are based on new extracting technologies with minimum environmental risks. The Yakutia science and technology park is the biggest in the republic, counting more than 90 enterprises among its residents, with revenues of 792 million rubles. Together with Yakutia Venture Capital company, the Arctic Innovative Center of the North-East Federal University, and the Agency for the Coordination of Innovative Business, the science and technology park is active in the development of innovative technologies and their implementation.
