Dr. Máximo A. Roa, PMP is a Senior Researcher and Leader of the Group on Dexterous Manipulation and Planning at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics in the German Aerospace Center - DLR.
He completed his PhD degree (cum laude) from the Polytechnical University of Catalonia, Spain, in 2009. He previously worked as a Research Specialist for Hewlett Packard R&D.
Since 2015 he works part time for the DLR Spin-off company Roboception, where he is Expert in Robotic Applications and manager of strategic alliances and research projects. He has taken part in different German and European research projects, including THOMAS, COMANOID, SOMA, SMErobotics, GeRT, and DEXMART. Dr. Roa serves since 2013 as co-chair of the IEEE-RAS Technical Committee on Mobile Manipulation.
His main research areas include grasping, manipulation, motion planning and humanoid robots; he has published over 75 scientific papers, and has received several best paper awards.
