Venice Biennale of Architecture 2012

Today at the International Architecture Biennale in Venice, the Russian pavilion for the first time in the history of this exhibition received an award. The exposition gained a prize of the jury, which will be soon sent to Russia.

We feel ourselves proud and we are happy with the work done, looking forward for a further successful participation in architectural competitions of such a high levelViktor Vekselberg, president of the "Skolkovo" foundation said.

Gregory Revzin, the commissioner of the pavilion, said that Russia has proved its capability to demonstrate a high level of technological and architectural excellence.

It’s a team victory, and I want to thank in person pavilion’s curator Sergey Choban and author of the idea of QR-codes Konstantin Chernozatonsky for a successfully implemented projectthe commissioner said.

Its’ worth to be reminded that this year Russia presented at the Biennale the “i-citi/i-land” project, dedicated to the Russian science cities: from closed science towns of the Soviet period to the innovation center "Skolkovo", being created today. The exhibit of the Skolkovo project was chosen concept, showing urban and architectural development in a whole new digital format.

The work on the "Skolkovo" project teamed unprecedented number of well-known Russian and foreign architects. Their collaboration is essential for promoting architectural, urban and technological innovations in the practice of Russian urbanism.

The idea to use QR codes within the Pavilion was proposed by GrigoryRevzin and Konstantin Chernozatonskiy. Design of the Pavilion was done by architectural bureau SPEECH Tchoban&Kuznetsov. Multimedia application for tablet computers given to visitors at the entrance was developed by a Moscow-based company TreeLev LLC.
