In the process of creating a new product or modifying an existing one it’s always necessary to analyze possible outcomes of its interaction with environment during actual real-life use.

Before the dawn of computer age, this problem was solved by means of creating prototypes of product for preliminary testing. This approach, however, required significant expenditure cost- and time-wise, and wouldn’t let you analyze a large number of modifications of a given product exactly for that reason.

With the development of information technology a new tier of specialized software solutions have been utilized for this task. This software allows you to perform engineering analysis of a product by means of computer simulation of processes and effects that will affect the product during real-life use.


This type of software is now commonly referred to as CAE (Computer-aided-engineering).

Fidesys suite is the Russian multi-purpose CAE-software for high-end structural analysis. It eclipses international competition in terms of accuracy and hardware efficiency, and for a number of tasks commonly faced by industrial designers it is the only product available in the market capable of high-accuracy simulations.


According to data disclosed by CIMData, a leading CAE market analysis company, the compound average growth rate of the market in 2004-2012 exceeded 15%. In 2009, which was the year of financial crisis, the market contracted by only 6,4%. In 2010 the market once again expanded with 9% growth rate and reached the volume of $2,32 bln, exceeding the previous maximum level it reached in 2008 prior to the crisis. According to CIMdata market volume in 2012 reach the volume of $4.0 bln.

The growth of demand for CAE solutions is due to the increasing availability of means for engineering analysis. On one hand, software becomes easier to use and more accessible, on the other hand, the cost of high-performance computers needed to perform calculations decreases.

Despite the difficult macroeconomic environment, which negatively affected the majority of industries that use the CAE products, the desire to reduce costs continues to drive increased use of CAE - as a way of reducing the cost of developing new products.


More than two-thirds of the CAE product sales in North America and Europe. According to expert estimates the Russian market for CAE is approximately $50 million, which represents 2% of the global market.
