Together with Sweden-based DigiExam, a secure end-to-end digital assessment and grading platform for schools and universities, and U.K.-based Show My Homework, an online platform for parents, teachers and students to view and set homework, Dnevnik was named a winner at EdTechXEurope, a major education technology conference in London. The awards are given for companies that demonstrated the most significant innovation in the past year, and are decided by a global panel of judges who look at factors such as revenue growth, scale, innovation and market impact.

The companies had pitched their projects to the audience of the EdTechXEurope summit, and will now get support from the conference’s partners, including tech-focused law firm Kemp Little and corporate advisory group IBIS Capital. Three more startups were recognized for showing the most revenue growth momentum over the last three years.

“Winning the leading competition for educational projects in Europe is an important indicator of the work of all our team,” said Gavriil Levi, the founder and director of Dnevnik.ru, whose services include online lesson planners, virtual classrooms and online learning competitions.

“Having gained recognition from global industry leaders, we have confirmation that our strategy is the right one and a successful one. We won’t stop here: we are still developing Dnevnik.ru and the edtech market in our country,” he added.

Dnevnik.ru is used by more than 9 million teachers, students and their parents, as well as staff of educational organisations and government representatives, according to the company.

“Dnevnik.ru is a driver of the digital transformation of the Russian education system, and winning this prestigious European competition also testifies to the high commercialization potential of their product on the global education market, which is worth more than $5 trillion, while currently only 2 percent of education services are available in a digital format,” said Pavel Novikov, head of the EdTech centre within Skolkovo’s IT cluster.

Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet, co-founder of EdTechXEurope, was quoted as saying in a press release that competition had been strong for the awards, with 200 applications received from 30 countries.

“Our six winners impressed judges not only with their passion and innovation, but also with their capacity for global growth momentum,” said Vedrenne-Cloquet.

“Award entries from the entire EdTechXGlobal All Stars Awards were inspiring and a true testament to the wonderful work being done by a number of EdTech players at a global scale," he said.
