Oleg Dubnov, Vice President and Executive Director of the Cluster of Energy-Efficient Technologies of Skolkovo Foundation: “This event shows us once again that today ecological transport, such as electric transport, is no longer a dream; it is reality. This is the kind of transport that allows to travel across large distances and do so fairly quickly. Now when it comes to the Skolkovo Innovation Center, we are proceeding according to plan as we pursue the goal of making our territory free from any vehicles with internal combustion engines. More than 30 charging stations have already been installed, they can charge the battery of the electromobile in fewer than 5 hours. We use electric buses for transportation of passengers. Just last week as we held our key event, StartupVillage2019, we opened a new and powerful 50 kW charging station. In just one hour it can charge the electric car’s battery by 80%. This was why we wanted the intermediate leg of the rally to finish here at Skolkovo so that the final leg of the rally could start here as well.”

The team of the International Institute of Monaco won the intermediate leg, while the second place went to the energetic “Victory” team of Meelis Merilo, and the “Success” team from Estonia came in third.

Yuri Tamm, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Estonia: “We have already traveled more than 4,000 km, this is the longest distance ever covered by electric cars. There are no other such international rallies in Europe, let alone rallies on electric cars. Having covered such a long distance already, I can confidently say that we will be there on time in St. Petersburg tomorrow. The winners of the marathon will be presented their awards near the Expoforum CEC, including the Memorial Cup of Andrey Platonovich Nagel.”

Kyuri Usmanov, President of the Future of the Motherland Foundation: “The Electric Marathon leg is a sort of a race to create the new ecological frame of mind in the general public, not only in Russia but across the world. This is not just a competition to win prizes, it is an attempt to remind people in a very vivid and memorable way about how important it is to take care of the environment and use modern eco-friendly technologies in real life.”

The first leg of the international Peace Rally was organized by Kyuri Usmanov, President of the Future of the Motherland Foundation, Yuri Tamm, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Estonia, and the Prince Albert II Foundation. The marathon was officially started on May 27 by the Prince of Monaco Albert II on the Chapiteau de Fontewille Square in Monaco.

The rally is held on Tesla ModelS electric cars and the unique Pobeda GAZ M-20 car, made in 1958 and equipped with an electric engine. On their way to St. Petersburg the participants will charge up their cars in the village of Nikulino, Tver Region, and make stops in Tver and Veliky Novgorod. The first leg of the Peace Rally will be held on June 6, on the opening day of SPIEF-2019.
