EGM architecten, together with DRC International and Arup Nederland, has won a competition for a new to build Renova Research and Development building.


The project is part of the ambitious master plan Skolkovo near Moscow. This Russian equivalent of Silicon Valley will offer space to at least five different scientific clusters. The strategic goal of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre is the focus of international intellectual capital, so ground braking projects and technological developments are being stimulated.

In the Masterplan Skolkovo living is combined with both internal as external knowledge clusters. The Research & Development Renova building is a pilot for this Masterplan. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) based plan was submitted for a futuristic business complex of 19.000 sqm gross floor area.

The construction of a high-tech center for scientist and entrepreneurs should help Russia in its development and its commercialization of the newly developed technologies.

In the continuation of the assignment, EGM as supervising architect is responsible for integrating the technique and making sure the design fits within the specific climatic circumstances. Winning this competition also offers EGM a change to successfully export her knowledge and expertise in designing laboratories for high quality and complex institutions such as hospitals and commercial companies.
