Yesterday the Tyumen Technopark hosted the opening stage of the Russian StartUp Tour road show - a massive project of Russian development institutes.


The aim of the project is to create startup communities of talented young entrepreneurs, investors, technology parks and the region's leading universities and research institutes.

1. Registration for the project began at 9am. More than a hundred young businessmen, creators of innovative projects, investors, students and teachers from Tyumen were signed up to participate. At the entrance synchronous translation devices were distributed. For what – it will become clear later :)

2. The vast majority of the assembled audience were young Tyumen residents, future and aspiring entrepreneurs and students.

3. Welcoming remarks by the Chairman of the Committee on Innovation in the Tyumen region, Alexei Sannikov Germanovich. He noted that it was the first time such a large number of development institutions seeking to promote the involvement of young people in innovation were brought together in the region.

4. Next spoke Pekka Vilyakaynen, adviser to the president of the Skolkovo Foundation. For those who did not know English, the simultaneous translation devices came in handy. The Finnish guest told the audience the story of creating his own business, which he started at age 13. Two years ago, Pekka retired and moved to Russia to share his experience.

5. As part of the program, presentations by all the institutions for the advancement, education and financing blocks were given. Sergei Blintsov, head of the Zvorykinsky project, spoke to the audience. He gave a brief announcement of upcoming federal and regional activities under the general title of StartUp Search, a project aimed at the promotion and financing of new ideas and projects.

6. The next speaker was Vera Koryakina, manager of commercialization at the Skolkovo Foundation. She said that for a successful business, ideas alone are not enough. It is necessary to have a commercialization campaign, i.e. to go all the way from the idea stage to creating a budget. Vera also told the audience about the Skolkovo Foundation and their work with startups.

7. Evgeny Peltola, Head of Startup Sauna in Russia, told his audience about Finland, about the special relation of Finnish to saunas and, and finally about the project. Finnish saunas are a place where people come to get clean, be healthier and focus on the things important for them. The Startup Sauna is an analogy to this and a place where startups gather with the same purpose.

8. The education block. Here, participants learned that a successful campaign cannot be created by one person. For business, a team is needed in which the competence of each person is unique. Ekaterina Petrova, an expert from RVC, talked about how to improve the professionalism of the team.

9. The financing block. Denis Gusev, manager of projects in the young professionals department of the Strategic Initiatives Agency, spoke about support funds for supporting socially relevant Internet startups. The fund was launched in December and is currently under development.

10. During the day, participants had the opportunity to participate in work sessions to discuss initiatives to create new ideas and projects.
