On May 26-28 Moscow will host a large event, Startup Village, organized by Skolkovo Foundation with the support of partners. It is reported that this will be the largest annual thematic conference, so if you wish to be informed about everything going on in Russia concerning startups – you need to attend it.

The aims of the event are comprehensible and clear:

To consolidate the startup community of Russia and provide entrepreneurs in the field of higher technologies with direct access to Russian and foreign investors, representatives of large technological corporations and mass media.

There will be a unique atmosphere for live open communication and fruitful networking on the premises of STARTUP VILLAGE. There is no division into VIP and “normal” guests, no closed sessions or zones, each startup entrepreneur can freely communicate with any investor. Due to the fact that the majority of events take place outdoors, there is no such notion as dress code.

More than 3000 people are expected to participate in the event: 1000 startups, 300 investors, 150 journalists and many guests taking interest in higher technologies. The event will take place at Skolkovo, in the Hypercube building and adjoining open area. Judging by reports, something resembling Afisha Picnic will take place there, only instead of hipsters there will be geeks with Macbooks, and instead of pop stars – leading Russian and world investors. Headliners: Victor Vekselberg (Skolkovo president), Nikolay Nikiforov (Minister of Communications of Russian Federation), Nikolay Pryanishnikov (Director General of Microsoft Russia), Alexander Galitskiy (Almaz), Sergey Belousov (Runa), Yuri Milner (requires no presentation), Brad Feld, Sergey Fage and other personas, familiar to any startup entrepreneur.

There are not many names in the list of announced startups that are frequent in press. Among the familiar ones you can find Workle, Speaktoit, News360, Jelastic, Metabar, Displair, etc.

Quote of the Startup Village Committee Chairman Pekka Viljakainen:

The day when parents in Russia will advise their children to start their own business instead of working in state companies or authority bodies will mean that Russia has made a breakthrough in constructing new future!

On the whole, if you are a startup entrepreneur and know how to reach Skolkovo, it’s difficult to make up a reason not to come to this event.
