Today, the automotive market is undergoing through some important changes and improvements, mainly regarding its technological aspect. Cars are getting more and more pumped with high-end technology like gadgets and new functionalities, not to mention the rapid growing development of electronic cars, a niche where even Apple seems to be entering.

Some of those novelties include increasing the connection of cars with the Internet. That can be done, for example, by placing some of the most popular mobile operating systems in the cars, like Google is doing with Android Auto. And while these novelties are mostly good and really improve the use of cars, they can also be potentially harmful, as hackers might lock them as targets.

But it is exactly this integration with the Internet that allows for innovations like Navion. With its launch happening very soon, it is the first holographic display for car navigation, requiring no helmet or eyewear. The system simply projects the virtual route on the windshield, giving the impression that the route is placed on the road in front of the driver. With this there is no need for turning the head to check step-by-step instructions, as they are placed right where the driver needs them.

Navion will use the proprietary technology Infinity Focus, developed by WayRay. It projects the holographic display onto the road, which can only be properly seen by the driver. With this, safety is deeply enhanced, since there are no further distractions like the driver needing to move the head in order to check GPS instructions.
