Digital technologies enable long awaited revolution in healthcare. They promise drastic improvements in speed and cost of diagnostics, health monitoring and personalized care.
Healthcare is going to benefit immensely from application of ICT technologies such as omnipresent broadband network, big data and cloud computing, development of sensors and smart devices, mobile applications and robotics. Being one of ten countries that export more health technology than they import, Finland is emerging as a Digital Health Hub of Northern Europe. This development is leveraged by skilled professionals, use of extensive bio-banks connected to electronic health records and launch of new health tech startup accelerators, matched with significant public and private investments in R&D&I.
Group of high profile Finnish “digital health” entrepreneurs and experts, led by Tekes, will join Russian colleagues at Startup Village 2015 to discuss modern trends in digitalization of healthcare. Will mobile health apps and fitness trackers evolve from “fun” and “nice to have” into serious health monitoring/diagnostics platform, integrated in national healthcare systems? What are the trends in bio-banks development and what are the challenges for life science Big Data projects? How development in new generation robotic platforms allows for future widespread robotized surgery?
These and other topics will be discussed also in relation to existing and future cooperative projects of Finnish and Russian innovative companies and means of support provided by Tekes and Skolkovo Foundation. Join us at “Healthcare goes digital – views from Finland” session on June 3rd at Startup Village 2015, Biomed patio.
Pekka Soini – director general of Tekes, is also an invited speaker in “Global view” track of the conference. “Start-ups should act close to the customers already at early stages, presenting proto, testing pilots collecting feed-back. It’s very important to be agile and listen to the customer, be able to change and hone business model until it fulfils customer needs. It’s also worth to get coaching with experienced colleagues. In Finland we have several accelerators and incubators with wide international experience, ready to help,” Pekka Soini says.
Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation – promotes cooperation between Finnish and Russian innovative companies and public research organizations. Being a part of the Team Finland network, Tekes also helps companies and organizations detect and understand innovation signals and market changes in Russia, providing them with “future watch” foresight studies. For Russian innovative SMEs, Tekes offers co-funding programs with Skolkovo Foundation and Russian Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE). Representative office of Tekes Russia is located in Skolkovo, Moscow.
