Russian Robots to Act as Law Enforcement in Uzbekistan
An Uzbekistan security equipment supplier is purchasing Russian robots manufactured by the Skolkovo (VEB.RF) resident, Promobot. The robots function as consultants at a security equipment store.
The Russian-made service robot, Promobot, manufactured by a Perm company of the same name, began work at the showroom of the largest security equipment supplier in Tashkent, Modern Alliance Store. The robot's responsibilities include patrolling, CCTV for employees and customers alike, and answering questions about the company. The robot communicates both in English and Russian.
According to Promobot, the robots will work with other devices, becoming a fully-fledged part of security systems at stations, shopping centers, and other places with a higher concentration of people throughout Uzbekistan.
The robot utilizes obstacle sensors developed by Promobot engineers, which allow it to move freely and patrol facilities, going around objects that would otherwise be a hindrance.
"International collaboration with the goal of automatization is one of the leading vectors in the company's development strategy," said Promobot's head of development, Oleg Kivokurtsev. "A security robot removes the so-called 'human error factor.' It doesn't tire; it doesn't threaten visitors, it is not late for work, and, most importantly, it never makes mistakes. A person can forget the answer to a particular question or carelessly measure an individual's temperature, but a robot never does. It's not possible."
Promobot's security robots are being used successfully in Kazakhstan's internal affairs department and Germany's security enterprises. More recently, it completed a trial phase in the Abu Dhabi police; now, three more robots will begin serving at state entities in the UAE.
