Skolkovo Foundation

The Skolkovo Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in September 2010 by the Russian government with the objective of accelerating Russia’s transformation from a resource-intensive to an innovation-based economy. To achieve this objective, the Foundation is overseeing the creation of the Skolkovo Innovation Center, composed of more than 1,400 high-tech startups, Skolkovo Technopark, the Skolkovo Institute of Technology (Skoltech) - a new graduate research University established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - and Skolkovo city, located near Moscow. Together, these entities establish a vibrant ecosystem of technology innovation and entrepreneurship. Fifty global corporations including Boeing, Cisco Systems, EADS, GE, Johnson & Johnson, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Siemens, Nokia, Samsung, and Panasonic have already recognized the opportunity Skolkovo presents by signing R&D partnership agreements with the Foundation. The cumulative revenue of Skolkovo’s startups through December 2015 reached $1 billion. They brought in more than $270 million in investment, creating 17,500 jobs and filing over 1,800 patent applications along the way. By 2020 over 2 million square meters of residential and office space will be built in Skolkovo with 35,000 people working daily in the Innovation Center.



Open University Skolkovo

Open University Skolkovo aims at creating and developing a community of young scholars and entrepreneurs whose expertise provides new human resources and tech startups for the innovation ecosystem of Russia. The participants pass through all the stages of creating a startup - from an idea to setting up a company. They can test their business ideas with the help of business simulation games and real-life contests, take part in events along with world leaders in business and technology, as well as be mentored by successful entrepreneurs.

HSE — Skolkovo Institute for Law and Development

Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology

The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is a private graduate research university in Skolkovo, Russia, a suburb of Moscow. Established in 2011 in collaboration with MIT, Skoltech will educate global leaders in innovation, advance scientific knowledge, and foster new technologies to address critical issues facing Russia and the world. Applying international research and educational models, the university integrates the best Russian scientific traditions with twenty-first century entrepreneurship and innovation.




RVC is a government fund of funds and a development institute of the Russian Federation, one of Russia's key tools in building its own national innovation system. RVC’s authorized capital — RUB 30 011 320 700 (about US$ 454 mln.) — is 100% owned by the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimuschestvo). The total number of RVC funds has reached 22 (including two funds in foreign jurisdictions), with their total size of RUB 33 bn i.e. about US$ 499 mln. The share of RVC is RUB 20.2 bn. i.e. about US$ 306 mln. The number of innovative companies approved for investment by RVC funds reached 197 in 2016. The total volume of approved investments is RUB 18.3 bn. i.e. about US$ 277 mln. Since 2015, RVC OJSC has been defined as a project office for implementation of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) — the long-term strategy of the country's technological development, aimed at formation of new global markets by 2035.

Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) was set uр by the Russian Government in 1994. The Foundation provides financial support to young innovators and to small businesses which are engaged in development of high technologies that have a potential for commercialization. The Foundation has its representatives in more than 70 regions of Russia. FASIE was among the founders of the Skolkovo Foundation.

AGRO-Invest Group of Companies

Black Earth Farming was established in 2005 and was among the first foreign-financed companies that invested in the Russian agricultural sector. The Russian subsidiaries go by the name of AGRO-Invest and are headquartered in Voronezh, where the company holds its key central service functions. AGRO-Invest is a major producer of grains, oilseeds (wheat, barley, sunflower, corn) in Kursk, Lipetsk, Tambov and Voronezh regions and of root crop vegetables (potatoes, carrots and onions) in Lipetsk region. AGRO-Invest has a team of around 1,800 employees, including international experts. It has 256,000 hectares under control, of which around 150,000 hectares are being cropped. AGRO-Invest strategy is based on three pillars: high operational efficiency in the core business, land bank optimization and diversification into irrigated vegetable crops. The company aims to become a best-in-class agro industrial company in terms of production costs per ton. It has its own R&D team, it substantially utilizes technology in improving control within businesses and in improving management systems.
