The city of the future is being built by a team of planners, engineers, transportation and utilities specialists, economists, and financiers. Two Skolkovo Foundation sister companies manage this process, and their work is supervised by Maxim Sheyfel, City Manager of the Skolkovo Foundation.
The company ODAS(United Department of Asset and Service Management of the Center for Development and Commercialization of New Technology) is forming a conceptual design for the future city and establishing services that will make it a comfortable place to live and work. To date, a General Plan, has been adopted; layouts have been approved for separate neighborhoods, as have designs for the main buildings, which will create a memorable image for the innovation center; and an architectural contest is being held for the design of residential neighborhoods. Proposals have been drafted to improve road infrastructure and build convenient transportation links to the historical center of Moscow.
The company ODPS (United Department of Design and Construction) of the Center for Development and Design of New Technology is responsible for the construction of buildings and infrastructural facilities. The company coordinates the work of contracted construction companies. At present, construction is underway for underground power substations, the first of their kind in Russia. Construction has begun for the first Skolkovo building, the Center of City Development.
