The round table “Infrastructure for innovations: problems and solutions”, which formed part of the Open Innovations forum discussed experience of Russian and foreign development institutions, technoparks, regional technopark zones and high profile international experts

The list of participants of the round table included Skolkovo technopark CEO Sergey Kurilov, Andrei Vvedensky, head of the RVC department of infrastructural and regional development, Sergey Polyakov, general director of the Foundation for small business assistance, Patries Boekholt, managing director of the Technopolis Group, Chun Miao, Tsinghua science city and technopark top manager and other international officials. Sergei Gribov, managing partner of the Minerva Capital Partners was among speakers.

As Sergey Kurilov noted in his speech, “Skolkovo, as one of state development insitute has certain advantages: as it started a bit later, after others, so “ we can examine experience of our colleagues, to find optimal solutions. On the other hand, we are trying to incorporate ourselves into an existing scheme, with all its opportunities and limitations,”  Kurilov said.

He also reminded that physical infrastructure will appear at Skolkovo as soon as in 2 years, while now Skolkovo already works with about 750 startups, which are spread all over Russia.

“It makes us to “virtualize”, develop distanced forms of work, we came to a simple and straightforward conclusion that  we can’t limit ourselves by frames of available physical infrastructure.”

He also noted that given such a high number of residents, its impossible to imagine that all required (by the residents) R&D infrastructure, including laboratories, all kinds of scientific equipment to be located just in one place, at Skolkovo.

“We won’t be able to form the entire package, which corresponds to all needs within one technopark, and we are an open system, and I see my goal in building chains of cooperation with other technoparks, regional techno zones, development institutes”.
