Pehong Chen, CEO and founder of the BroadVision corporation, and one of TOP-25 world IT businessmen, according to Business Week, gave an exclusive interview to Sk.ru website

We talked to Mr. Chen before his lecture at the Spasso House, residence of the US ambassador in Russia

Mr. Chen, what does it take to successfully build an eco-system for innovations?

Anybody can succeed if they know what are they doing. And we just have to recognize that almost always have to start with a bunch of very good schools, universities, where you have talent.

And then the whole Infrastructure is not just technology, but also is to include a lot of supporting things, such as venture capitalists, lawyers, accountants. And the market is also – Russia or all of the world. It impacts, where you have your funding. If America is also a market – American VCs will also be interested to help.

What are the specifics of Russia, to your mind?

Russia is a big country and very big market and I hope that you will be very important to facilitate this type of innovation anyway. The other thing about Russia is education. It’s also important that education in Russia especially in maths and sciences is of a very high standard, and its also a very good foundation and a very big plus in leveraging.

You came to Moscow to talk about role of social networks in business, please, say in a few words what are you standing for?

I think we already, each of us as internet user is a participant of social media in one form or another, as a publisher or as a consumer. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are three big phenomenon. What I am here to talk about is the same type of technology or thinking applying to business, and how we fundamentally change the way we do our work, not entertain. And it will provide a profound impact in ways we do our business.
