On April 24, Skolkovo Technopark will host the Skolkovo Robotics International Forum. The biggest industry event in Eastern Europe is organized by the Skolkovo Foundation.

The forum will feature sessions on key areas of robotics, practical and educational master classes, business meetings, and an exhibition. About 5,000 people are expected to attend the event, including over 100 international experts from the United States, Germany, France, South Korea, Israel, Canada and other countries.

Among the speakers are:

  • Lee Soo-Young, director, Brain Science Research Center, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST);
  • Alon Wolf, founder and director, Biorobotics and Biomechanics Lab, Technion; co-founder, Medrobotics;
  • Emilio Frazzoli, CTO, nuTonomy Inc.;
  • Mike Mayer, head of the Technical Department for Mechatronic Gripping Systems, SCHUNK;

As in the past, the Forum will feature an exhibition of robotics projects with the highest per square meter density of exhibits in Eastern Europe. The total are of the exhibition will be over 8,000 sq.m. This year, it will be international companies as well as Russian ones demonstrating their innovative products.

The Skolkovo Robotics Forum is a continuation of the Skolkovo Robotics International Conference which has been held in Skolkovo since 2013. It is a platform for effective dialogue between companies working in the real sector, industry professionals, venture investors and start-ups.

In addition to Russian experts, speakers at the conference in previous years included representatives of companies and organizations like the International Federation of Robotics, Facebook AI Research, Amazon, Moley Robotics, Ekso Bionics, FANUC, KUKA Robotics, as well as universities: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Imperial College London, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Carnegie Mellon University and other leading universities.

Kirill Kaem, Senior Vice President for Innovation, Skolkovo Foundation: This is the sixth time that the Skolkovo Foundation hosts Skolkovo Robotics. Over the years, the industry took a big leap forward, so the level and the status of this event is even higher today. This is evidenced by the fact that the Forum will be attended by world’s leading researchers (KAIST, Imperial College London, Technion, ETH), founders and executives of industry giants (nuTonomy, Medrobotics, DJI, Amazon), i.e., those who are writing the history of robotics today. We are also proud of our resident companies which already compete with international manufacturers. If you want to stay on top of robotics agenda and learn from opinion leaders, come to Skolkovo Technopark on April 24.”

About the Skolkovo Foundation:

The Skolkovo Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in September 2010 by the Russian government with the objective of accelerating Russia’s transformation from a resource-intensive to an innovation-based economy. To achieve this objective, the Foundation is overseeing the creation of the Skolkovo Innovation Center, composed of more than 1,800 high-tech startups, Skolkovo Technopark, the Skolkovo Institute of Technology (Skoltech) - a new graduate research University established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - and Skolkovo city, located near Moscow. Together, these entities establish a vibrant ecosystem of technology innovation and entrepreneurship. The cumulative revenue of Skolkovo’s startups reached $2,5 billion. They brought in more than $186 million in investment, creating 27,000 jobs and filing over 1,100 patent applications along the way. By 2020 over 2 million square meters of residential and office space will be built in Skolkovo with 35,000 people working daily in the Innovation Center.
