A delegation from the Skolkovo Foundation will take part in the “Cities of the world” international conference which is taking place in Stockholm from 18 to 19 December under the auspices of The Economist.
The conference is devoted to innovative approaches to city planning and management. Well known architects and scientists and the mayors of many of the world’s major cities will share their experience.
The delegation from the Skolkovo Foundation will be headed by Vice President Seda Pumpyanskaya and Deputy City Manager Jack Bennett.
“This conference is exceptionally important for us, since the Skolkovo city that is under construction is not simply a place where innovative technologies will be developed. It will itself be a product of the most modern town planning technologies and a city of the future in the fullest sense. That’s why we’re planning to show it to full advantage,” stated Seda Pumpyanskaya, Vice President of the Foundation.
The Skolkovo Innovation Centre, where technologies which are important for the modernisation of the Russian economy will be developed, will be presented to the participants in the conference. The general plan for the construction project, which features a university, a science park, research centres and representative offices of major companies working in the high tech field, all in close proximity to each other and inter-connected, will be presented to them. Movement around the Innovation City will be on foot, on bicycle or by electric transport, and it is planned that 50% of the energy consumed by the city will be obtained from renewable sources. A variety of public spaces, well thought out landscaping solutions and environmentally friendly buildings will all be described by Deputy City Manager Jack Bennett.
The next conference in this cycle will take place in March 2012 in Moscow.
