Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SkTech) has announced the first recruitment drive for professors and teachers.
The Institute is looking for applicants interested in launching a new research and development study programme, which contributes to the creation of new innovation research programs and ways of interacting with industrial production.
Invited to apply are faculty or administrative staff, senior managers of leading international universities and the staff or senior managers of national and international industrial research laboratories.

Participants will spend 4 to 12 months in SkTech. The working language of SkTech is English; knowledge of Russian will be an advantage. Professors will be provided with financial support commensurable to the payment of sabbatical leave of Western universities; also travel and accommodation are paid. Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology –SkTech
Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology according to the plans of its founders has to become the first international research university that will be able to integrate business and innovation in educational programs and research. In total, it plans to attract 200 professors, 300 scientists and researchers, including foreign ones. Scientists from MIT, Harvard, Stanford and other renowned institutions will teach in the university. Up to 1200 master and PhD degree students are expected, so the ratio of students and teachers will be one to six. The Institute will be international and training will be conducted in English. There will be no faculties, departments, and similar entities. Any research will be interdisciplinary or polydisciplinary. There will be separate programs and each will have the program leaders.
Admission to SkTech will be possible to bachelors, who have already graduated from any Russian or foreign university. Graduate students admissions will be based on tests. Graduates of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology will receive an international recognised degree; e.g. PhD - Doctor of Philosophy. This will allow Russian scientists who have not yet enjoyed international exposure, to go to the international level.
The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology will be organized as an autonomous non-profit educational institution, whose work is monitored by an independent international board of trustees. The president of the Institute shall be subordinate to the board. In addition, there will be an international committee of advisers, who will make recommendations to the president in each area of research; program directors and vice presidents will be engaged in the same activity.
The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology’s 15 established research centres will provide communication between leading scientists in Russia and abroad, as well will make a solid base for collaborative research in the five strategic research programs: energy efficiency, space, information technology, biomedical and nuclear research. In each of these programs it is possible to get masters degree or doctorate.
SkTech will work the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which will be responsible for interactions with commercial entities of the Innovation Centre and provide various services, including patent support . The first research centres of institute will be operational in 2012, a pilot training program will start in autumn 2013, and a full program of training and research will be launched in 2014. In the year 2020 the formation of the university will be completed.
