Viktor Vekselberg, President of the Skolkovo Foundation, held a press briefing on the foundation's international links in the Asia-Pacific region during the APEC-2012 Leaders' Week in Vladivostok.
The APEC’s summit official website quoted Viktor Vekselberg saying: "The forum is providing an additional impetus for growth to the Skolkovo Foundation project and numerous areas of cooperation which we are developing under the project," Vekselberg said.
He noted that despite the traditional economic focus and the numerous items on the agenda of APEC-2012 Leaders' Week, the issue of innovation pervades all the discussions.
"Today, the Asia-Pacific economies clearly emphasize innovative development priorities in all sectors. Developing effective systems of integration is extremely important for us," Vekselberg said.
Today, the level of Russia's relations with European countries and the United States in education, research and science is slightly higher that those with Asian countries. "That is why we are redoubling our efforts working here at the forum, to give a new impetus to our cooperation. For me, the APEC Leaders' Week is a platform to develop further cooperation between the Far Eastern Federal University, the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the foundation projects," he said.
