The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) has announced an international call for proposals for postdoctoral research projects that combine academic research with industrial application and have potential to contribute to developing Russia’s capacity for innovation.
We aspire to become one of the world’s best universities for graduate studies with innovation in its core. Development of new knowledge in innovation and entrepreneurship is pivotal for fulfillment of our mission. Initiation of the Skoltech postdoctoral program is one of the first important steps for laying down the foundation for that. Skoltech seeks research proposals for programs in: Entrepreneurial Society, Collaborative Innovation and the Future of Manufacturing. These three research programs cover a broad range of possible research topics directly relevant for Russia as well as for the international innovation ecosystem.
The research programs will aim to focus on current innovation capacity and opportunities to create a more competitive hi-tech and entrepreneurial environment in Russia. Results from the research findings will be submitted to international scientific journals for publication. The intention is that the findings of the research will be useful in developing recommendations on how to advance innovation society and effectively integrate innovation into the economy that can be useful to scientific, educational, industrial and governmental institutions in Russia and internationally.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to interact with Russian firms and institutions. They will benefit from mentorship and work with leading authorities in their fields: faculty of MIT and other international partner institutions. The researchers will also receive a highly competitive salary along with separate discretionary funds to support their research activities for two years.
All proposals submitted in response to the call will be subject to peer review by a committee of internationally renowned experts in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. Proposals will be assessed on the basis of their overall merit, innovative approach to research, economic value and social impact, and potential contribution to advancing scientific knowledge in innovation and entrepreneurship. Selected projects in the defined programs will be announced by June 14, 2013.
Preliminary proposals are due April 30, 2013.
