Kirill Kaem, Skolkovo vice president and executive director of the biomed cluster, signed a cooperation agreement on Friday with the Russian Society of Clinical Oncology (RUSSCO) that sees the foundation keep the society informed of the latest developments and invest in related innovation projects.

“Our cooperation with the Russian Society of Oncology has already yielded many interesting projects and initiatives such as the annual OncoBioMed event,” Kaem said. “We are planning to strengthen our ties further and support innovations that help in the fight against oncological diseases,” he added.  At least 60 of the biomed cluster's 260 startups are involved in oncology in one way or another, Kaem said.

RUSSCO president Sergei Tyulyandin noted Skolkovo’s important role in “stimulating and coordinating the innovation process in Russia, including in the biomedicine sector.”

“Developing our relations with Skolkovo, we hope that domestic innovations will lead to improvements in diagnostics, treatments and prophylactics of malignant tumors,” Tyunlyandin said. "RUSSCO has always viewed Skolkovo as a hugely respected organization. ... We will be the most loyal of partners."

The Russian Society of Clinical Oncology (RUSSCO), is a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology, the continent’s leading organization representing professional oncologists.
