Skolkovo has launched a Startup Village smartphone app to help 10,000 visitors get the most out of Eastern Europe’s biggest startup conference.

Startup Village runs next Tuesday and Wednesday at Skolkovo’s headquarters just west of Moscow. Its purpose is to help startup businesses to get off the ground and encourage the creation of new ones through a conference, an exhibition and the pitch competition.

The Startup Village app is available as a free download on iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms. It gives an exhaustive rundown of the conference and allows users to add events to a customized schedule. Push notifications appear a few minutes before a given event to allow the user time to reach it.

In an especially useful feature, users can track the activity of hundreds of industry leaders, investors and other special guests, read their bios and even send them messages.

There is also a map of the Skolkovo Technopark Office Center, which this year takes the place of the Hypercube as the venue for Startup Village.

Organizers expect record crowds to the June 2-3 festival of entrepreneurship, chief among whom will be traditional patron Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s prime minister.

While it is traditionally split into three parts - the conference, the Startup Bazaar and the pitch sessions – Startup Village also features all manner of master-classes, workshops, consultation events, investment forums and other activities.

The conference is to be held across three stages – the Main Stage, the Patio Stage and the Workshops Stage - and headlined by a diverse range of speakers from Skolkovo president Victor Vekselberg to AvtoVAZ CEO Bo Andersson, from former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen to TechCrunch editor Mike Butcher.

More than 30 discussions are on offer across the two days, starting with “Defining the Future of the Digital World” and ending with “Clash of the titans: How big companies can and should benefit from innovative startups.”

Industry-specific round tables will also feature in six categories: IT (B2B and B2C), efficient energy, biomed, industrial technologies and space and telecoms.
