Pharmaceutical R&D company Johnson&Johnson and the Skolkovo Foundation intend to build a Center of High Technologies and Continuous Medical Education in Skolkovo, an innovation hub under completion near Moscow, newspaper Izvestia reports.
The center will teach high technologies in medicine, focusing on teaching doctors to use modern technologies and medical equipment. Doctors from over 20 medical fields will reportedly be trained by the best specialists from Russia and abroad.
Under plans, the Center will be organized as a non-commercial partnership in the form of consortium of large companies – medical equipment manufacturers. About ten companies are expected to take part in the project, who will be responsible for buying equipment and covering operation costs. Skolkovo will take upon itself construction of the building for the Center. Costs for the project have yet to be disclosed. Experts estimate investment into the Center construction at over $150m, and annual maintenance cost at $4-$5m
