The solemn ceremony and awarding of new members took place in October in the recently opened Hypercube building of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre.

 
12 companies became residents of Skolkovo, among them Saint-Petersburg biotechnological Company Sequoia Genetics, a unit of Alkor Bio Group.  The ceremony was visited by Alexander Pavlov, the head of the project “Personalized Genome Diagnostics”. The project is unique for Russia and even worldwide. It is aimed at development of interactive media for comprehensive human genomes analysis.
The project is implementing in collaboration with EMC Corporation (USA) and bioinformaticians from few Saint-Petersburg universities. The project is cutting edge and will be performed in Skolkovo Center. 

“To get the residence status we should reveal in proposal main ideas and concepts of the project. Company obtains status only if it presenting state-of-the-art project with promising commercial perspectives. One of important criteria is that applicant should have resources for project realization. Skolkovo’s experts concluded that “Personalized Genome Diagnostics” meet all the requirements.” – said Alexander Pavlov. 
 


Major advantage of the Sequoia’s project is dramatically different approach to molecular genetics diagnostics. At the result it would be possible once to get the patient’s DNA sequence use this information for obtaining new data and searching for mutation whenever it is needed. 

After ceremonial part at Skolkovo Centre the expert session was arranged. The session was focused on independent expertise of activity and efficiency of Russian innovative institutes.
