The Skolkovo Foundation and Siemens AG have signed the Cooperation Agreement on Infrastructure Development of Skolkovo Innovation Centre. The document was signed by Viktor Vekselberg, President of Skolkovo, and Peter Löscher, President and CEO, Siemens AG.
In the agreement, the parties express their intention to jointly study a number of infrastructure development possibilities for the Innovation City. Cooperation under the agreement will cover such areas as power supply and urban planning (including the use of elements and the smart grid technologies), centralized power generation, infrastructure for electric vehicles and renewable energy sources and energy storage. The agreement will be valid for five years.
The signed document is based on a Memorandum of Understanding dated July 15, 2010, under which the main areas of cooperation "Siemens" and "Skolkovo" include infrastructure, research and development and promotion of the project at the international level. Viktor Vekselberg, President of the Skolkovo said: “We continue to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Siemens. Signing the agreement takes our relationship to a new level: from the creation of a R&D centre in Innovation City Skolkovo to share infrastructure with the use of Siemens’s best practices and technologies.
“Skolkovo is a very interesting and important project that can become a powerful motivation for innovation and modernization in Russia. And we are proud to have partnered with the Skolkovo Foundation in its implementation. Throughout the world, we are introducing the most advanced technology, and the name "Siemens" is perceived as synonymous with innovation. In addition to cooperation in infrastructure of Innovation City we have already started organizing their own research activities in Skolkovo”, - said the president "Siemens" in Russia and Central Asia, Vice-President of "Siemens AG" Dietrich Meller.
